The Little Red Library (or LRL) is a project officially initiated on the 1st of August 2023. The AGM of July 2023 saw it in agreement that a small library be established at the Wellington Trades Hall. To this end, a committee has been established and the development of the space is underway.
The LRL seeks to be a physical centre for the mission of the WWEA, that being the:
Advancement, encouragement and provision of continuing and community education of adults that promotes a just and more equitable society and which takes account of the Treaty of Waitangi as the founding document of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The LRL seeks to provide a library centred upon working class history, politics, and thinking. This is with a particular focus on their relationship to Aotearoa New Zealand and Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Accordingly the LRL will provide literature pertaining particularly to:
- The History of Trade Unions in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas
- Socialist, Communist, and Anarchist commentary
