Educating the people on political and social issues

Through its regular discussion forums, the Workers’ Educational Association has long contributed to the political and social education of the working people in Wellington. For decades, invited speakers have delivered regular lectures on topical issues, raising the social consciousness of the people and encouraging their active participation in public affairs.

The lectures are delivered by notable academics, labour leaders and community organisers.

Originally held on weekday lunchtimes, such forums are now held on evenings and weekends to better fit around the busy work and family schedules of members.
