President of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions Helen Kelly delivered a keynote address at the 2nd People’s Expo in Wellington today. Exhibitors from thirteen community organisations and four political parties took part in lectures and discussion on political and social issues facing working people today.
Lectures were also given by Mr Rory McCourt, Vice-President of the Victoria University Students’ Association, and Rev. Karen Dyhrberg of the St Cuthberts Anglican parish in Berhampore.
Organisations in attendance were: the Labour, Greens, Mana and Workers’ parties; Living Wage Campaign, Unions Wellington (regional trades and labour council), New Zealand Educational Institute, Labour History Project NZ, Community Law Wellington, Benefits Rights Service, Wellington Residents’ Coalition, United Community Action Newtown, Share International, Compassionate Communication, The City is Ours and Queer Avengers.
