Green Party MP Catherine Delahunty delivered a keynote address to the inaugural WEA People’s Expo, held in Wellington on October 8th. The meeting brought together ten of the leading community groups in the region for a day of political lectures and discussion.
Ms Delahunty delivered a tribute to her late father Jim Delahunty, a character ingrained in the Wellington political scene, to which the expo was dedicated. She addressed many important issues facing the working people of New Zealand.Participating organisations included the Unions Wellington (regional Trades and Labour Council), Public Service Association community sector division, MMP Campaign, Wellington People’s Centre, The Futures Trust, Tax Justice Campaign, Electoral Enrolment Centre, Residents’ Coalition, October 15th Raids Support Group, and Freedom Shop.
Musical performances included folk musician Don Franks and the Brass Razoo Solidarity Band.
